En route to northern Donegal, Ireland, this scene emerged in County Sligo. Thousands of years of wind erosion have carved these mountains into flat-topped bluffs that stretch for miles. Known as Yeats Country, the poet, William Butler Yeats, spent much of his childhood here and a grave near Drumcliff marks the spot where he is buried.
The sky that afternoon was relentless in its performance and, thankfully, the photographs I was able to take and my memory of the day were sufficient enough for me to recreate its display. |
