Situated near the Brandywine River, this depicts the bountiful acres of wetlands that buffer adjacent corn fields from the rivers frequent flooding. My subject here is the framework of the tree trunks and branches set against a flattened expanse of trees in the distance.
By keeping the background flat and uncomplicated I was able to introduce in that area an exaggerated but believable blueish-purple which supports and enhances the more naturalistic color of the foreground trees. Warm greens and yellows, especially those located just below center, advance the lower third of the image, holding the intensity of the background color at bay. |
