Although small in stature, this painting has given me big ideas. It is the first in a series that Ive been experimenting with for the last two years. Limpid foreground shadows and verticals easily give way to a strong and opaque background light source. In this case, a bold band of orange, describing the muddy Brandywine Creek, provides a smooth passage from the contrasting foreground to background areas. |
