While at the supermarket bakery, I was inspired by the color and texture of these bite-sized lemon and raspberry tarts. With the addition of two Fiestaware teacups and saucers, a simple arrangement of repeated ellipses emerged. Balancing the dark ellipses, clear tea and raspberry filling, became paramount. Ironically, the darkest and heaviest color and texture, raspberry filling, found it’s way down to near the bottom of the composition.
