I was attracted to the funnel shaped coastline of this image, a photograph taken near Winslow Homers studio in Prouts Neck, Main. With much of the weight located near the bottom, I created balance by hanging the horizon line near the top. The air was heavy with humidity that day, as I recalled, so I felt at liberty to neutralize much of the color in the sky and distant sea, while bold cools and warms energize an already active lower half. |
