Having spent the day exploring the intimate residential areas of Park City, Utah, I came upon this scene near Lowell and 8th Avenues. It had been threatening to snow all afternoon, so the sky above and snow pack on the north face seemed nearly indistinguishable. In this painting, the only elements separating the two are the dark mass of evergreens clinging to the mountainside and a subtle change in color temperature I employed in the sky. The latter enhances the greenish blue glow of reflected afternoon sunlight on that blanket of white. |
